New Orleans Festivals
The New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival takes place at the Fair Grounds Race Course, a horse track set inside residential neighborhoods between Gentilly and Mid-City. It is a wonderful place for a festival and a difficult place to bring a car. The festival generally runs over two long weekends in late April and early May. Check the official schedule for this year's days and hours before booking, then give us your hotel or home address and the time you want to be inside.

The Fair Grounds has little or no general public parking during the festival, and the surrounding streets are narrow, residential and subject to restrictions and closures on festival days. Visitors who drive commonly end up parking a long walk away or paying a resident for a driveway spot. Traffic on Gentilly Boulevard, Esplanade Avenue and the streets near Bayou St. John thickens from late morning, then again when the closing acts finish and the whole crowd leaves at once.
A chauffeured drop-off avoids all of it. You step out near the entrance with your chairs and bags, and the vehicle leaves the area.
Cell service around the Fair Grounds can be unreliable when the crowd leaves, so we do not rely on a phone call. Before you go in, you and the chauffeur agree on a specific corner a short walk from the gates, outside the closed streets, and a time. If you decide to leave early, a text to dispatch moves the pickup up. Groups should pick one person to be the contact.
If rain has turned the infield to mud, which happens, the chauffeur will have the vehicle ready for it. A change of shoes in a bag is a local habit worth copying.
The festival ends in the early evening, and much of the city's best music that week happens afterwards in clubs on Frenchmen Street, Uptown and in the Warehouse District. With an hourly booking the same chauffeur can take you from the Fair Grounds to your hotel to change, on to dinner and then to a late show. Book early: festival weekends are in heavy demand, and Sprinter vans go first.

We drop as close as festival traffic control allows on the day, typically a short walk from an entrance. Street closures vary, so the chauffeur chooses the best approach when you arrive.
